There is perhaps no industry more closely related to the economic and social well-being of a given community than the real estate industry, and thus the Cobb Association of REALTORS® feel it is only right to support that community in every way we can.  Recent Community Service beneficiaries include:

CAR presented a check for $4500 to the Wounded Warriors Project, funded by proceeds from the 2014 Annual CAR Charity Golf Tournament. Said President Phyliss Graham, “As a REALTOR® Association, our mission is not only to serve our Members, but our community as well. Our contribution to the Wounded Warriors Project is one of the many ways we share in that commitment.”
At our April 15 Membership Meeting, Sonya Milner and Nathan Kongthum of The Salvation Army updated the group on their efforts in Cobb County. At the end of the meeting, CAR President Phyllis Graham presented The Salvation Army a check for $1000, representing donations from CAR Members.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2015 Cobb Association of REALTORS® Jeanne Linden Scholarship Award, awarded annually to qualified high school graduates seeking financial support as they enter college programs in the fall.  The Awards are named for CAR Member and Past-President Jeanne Linden, and are funded by contributions from our Membership.  All applicants must have been sponsored by a CAR REALTOR® Member.

Each year, The Cobb Association of REALTORS® and its Members contribute and assemble lunches for thousands of kids in need in Cobb and surrounding counties. This year, CAR REALTOR® and Affiliate Members outdid themselves by building and delivering an astounding record 3,000 lunches to Must Ministries for distribution to these deserving children.

Led by Affiliate Don Powell of Monica Johnson’s CAR Community Cares Committee, this successful effort was weeks in the making.  Said Don, “We had so much support from so many people and organizations who feel the same way we do, that no child deserves to go hungry.”  Scores of volunteers sourced and picked up the lunch ingredients, and scores more met to assemble them.  3000 lunches were built, bagged and delivered, all within only 3 hours.

Many thanks to our sponsors, without whom we could not have succeeded in this worthy cause.  In particular, thank you to our friends at Lennar Homes, who not only provided the funds to purchase the sandwich meat, but arrived with around 20 of their own staff to support our efforts. August 19, 2015: Loving Arms Cancer Outreach and JT Anderson Boys & Girls Club of Marietta Check Presentations. Drawing on proceeds from the July 23 Annual CAR Charity Golf Tournament, CAR made significant contributions to two local charities at our August 19, 2015 Membership Meeting:

  • Loving Arms Cancer Outreach of Marietta, who you may have read was recently burglarized, losing a $5000 diamond necklace they were planning to auction off to fund their services to cancer patients in need. CAR donated $5000 to cover that loss. The check was presented to President and Founder, Ms. Shay Traynor.
  • The J.T. Anderson Boys & Girls Clubs, located right down the street from our Association offices here in Marietta. CAR also donated $5000 to this worthy organization. The check was presented to Ms. Katherine Knittel, Director of County Corporate Development and Special Events.
